PostHub vs Buffer

Buffer is the fast, simple scheduler; PostHub is the workspace for teams that need approvals, roles and a full network list.

Buffer is one of the most widely used social schedulers, and its reputation is earned: a clean composer, a short learning curve and a free tier that lets people start without talking to anyone. If you want to publish a few posts a week by yourself, Buffer is a perfectly good answer.

PostHub is built for a busier shape of work: several networks, several people, and a post that has to be signed off before it goes out. The comparison below only states facts about PostHub that this product actually implements — every PostHub cell is checked against the code — and keeps Buffer’s side to publicly known positioning, because we have not run a hands-on audit of their product.

Where Buffer is strong

  • Simplicity: Buffer is famously quick to set up and pleasant to use solo.
  • A free tier, which PostHub deliberately does not offer — PostHub runs a 10-day trial instead.
  • A long track record and a large body of third-party tutorials and reviews.

Pick PostHub if…

  • You need approval sign-off before anything publishes (none / loose / strict, per workspace or per group).
  • You need more than one person in the workspace with real roles: owner, admin, editor, approver, viewer.
  • You publish to networks a light scheduler may not cover — Bluesky, Mastodon, Tumblr, Vimeo, Dribbble and Pinterest all publish here today.
  • You want an API and an MCP endpoint so your own tools or an AI agent can schedule for you.

Pick Buffer if…

  • You are one person publishing to one or two accounts.
  • You want to start free and only pay later.
  • You value a minimal tool over an approval workflow and role model.
